While Emily was attending and presenting at the NESA Conference at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, I hopped on a water taxi and headed towards the Democracy Monument to see, first hand, what the Red Shirts are about. In the heat of the afternoon everyone had down-shifted into relax mode; more of a ‘party with a purpose’ atmosphere.

The city is huge, energetic, chaotic and a bit unforgiving. I get a thrill walking through the streets and chatting with street vendors who want to practice their English. Tonight, Emily and I are meeting up with Mark Powers, a friend we haven’t seen since the end of June when I sheepishly asked him to take in some vintage drums.
