One of the parts of the big decision to teach overseas (and there were many parts) was the opportunity for travel. I just returned from Malta where I attended a three day professional development seminar. Our session leader was fantastic and I learned a lot. My school paid for my registration, the flights, the accommodations, and provided a healthy per diem.

I paid for taxis.

For my former stateside colleagues reading this, you may have to pause for a moment. [pause] My school sent me to an incredible professional development seminar held at a resort on a Mediterranean island, all expenses paid, and the experience made me a better teacher.

And, the food was awesome. ~b
