I’m (Emily) doing well at my Orff Schulwerk class. It is a difficult class to explain, we spend 3 hours a day on music education pedagogy in the style of Carl Orff, 1 hour a day with movement activities and 1 hour a day on recorder.

In recorder class, we have been working with the wonderful Cathy Ameling to learn alto recorder. Today I also had the chance to play sopranino (tiny), bass (big), and garklein (super tiny) recorders.

Here is a image of the family of recorders.

From top to bottom: bass, tenor, alto, soprano, sopranino, no garklein. The garklein is about 4 inches long and the bass is about 3 feet or more long. They all sound great, especially with me playing them 🙂
